Pinot Noir Shootout & Summit

We’re Passionate About Pinot Noir!

The Pinot Noir Shootout is simply the best and most comprehensive Pinot Noir tasting in the world, exploring and assessing different styles of Pinot Noir.

Over 460 wines were entered in last year’s 10th Annual Pinot Noir Shootout.

The Pinot Noir Shootout has a single varietal focus. Each of the wines is more intensely judged than in standard, broadband competitions. Great producers of Pinot Noir, submit their wines year after year.

What’s it like to be a Pinot Noir judge?

Monique Soltani of Wine Oh TV reports from the 9th Pinot Noir Summit.

Most competitions go straight to medals, our Shootouts provide concerted, then condensed reviews, providing the most thorough, quotable, consumer friendly, and accessible results in the industry from a diverse panel of experts. Male and female reviews for each wine are posted on the Affairs of the Vine website. Many of our judges write and publish their own results.

Wineries who produce great Pinot Noir enter their wines in the Pinot Noir Shootout year after year.

Wine writers, publicists, sales and marketing professionals, and the discerning public love the access to our reviews. There are over 12,000 references to The Pinot Noir Shootout on Google, 34,000+ on Yahoo, and 9500+ on Bing. Our website views numbered over 500,000 following the posting of our results – view them

The intense tasting process for the Pinot Noir Shootout begins in October and continues through the finals in December. Incredible producers entered their wines in this year’s competition.

Pinot Noir Shootout finals

In the last 10 years, we’ve tasted over 3800 Pinot Noirs in our blind tastings – never tasting more than 32 wines in a day. Great wines reveal themselves when given this kind of care and attention.

An incredible array of palates gathers each year to assess the best Pinot Noir from all over the world at the Annual Pinot Noir Shootout finals in December in San Francisco, California.

The finalists are then showcased at the Annual Pinot Noir Summit in late February or early March of the following year. This event attracts Pinot Noir lovers from the consumer, media and trade segments.

The comments and reactions to the wines will be accessible on the Affairs of the Vine website and will be posted two weeks after the completion of the Pinot Noir Summit.
