Affairs of the Vine and Wineworks invite you to experience the ultimate
Pinot Noir adventure. The Pinot Noir Summit includes The Final Showdown of the
2004 Pinot Noir Shootout featuring 30 of the top-rated Pinot Noirs, Pinot Noir
workshops and tastings, the Pinot Noir Shootout Awards Ceremony, and a
reception featuring top Pinot Noir winemakers showcasing their wines with
specially paired hors d'oeuvres. The cost of The Pinot Noir Summit is
$125.00 per person plus tax. Attendance is limited to 100 lucky wine lovers

The 2004 Pinot Noir Shootout panel tasted and evaluated over 200 outstanding
Pinot Noirs. Thirty top-rated wines will be featured at The Pinot Noir
Summit hosted by Affairs of the Vine and Wineworks at The California
Culinary Academy in San Francisco on Saturday, April 16, 2005.

Pinot Noir Shootout - The Final Showdown
Pinot Noir lovers will have the opportunity to taste 30 of the top-rated wines
from The 2004 Pinot Noir Shootout in a blind tasting at the Pinot
Noir Summit at The California Culinary Academy. Guests will pit
their palates against the expert panel. Each attendee will taste the wines and
rate their preferences. Scores will be tallied and compared with the findings
of our panel. Guests will taste the wines in Royal Leerdam Carré
glassware, the same glassware used by the panel.

Pinot Noir Workshops
Guests may attend two workshops. They may choose from the following:
Here Come the Clones: Moderator, Anthony Austin, Winemaker, Sonoma
Coast Vineyards will lead a group of outstanding winemakers through a Pinot
Noir Clonal Selection discussion, presentation and tasting. The panel will
identify the attributes of five different Pinot Noir clones and taste examples
of each clonal selection.
A Question of Style: David Jones, wine writer, consultant, &
educator of Wineworks will lead a spirited discussion and tasting with a panel
of winemakers who will discuss their "style" of Pinot Noir and taste
the unique differences.
Mushrooms and Pinot Noir: This workshop will explore the classic
pairing. Which of the myriad varieties of mushrooms with which style of Pinot
Noir? Taste for yourself. Three mushroom dishes will be paired with four
different Pinot Noirs.
Understanding Pinot Envy: Identifying Aromas & Flavors in Pinot
Noir - A unique tasting and learning experience. In this Aromatic Workshop,
attendees will discover how to identify the wide range of aromas and flavors
that occur in Pinot Noir. Participants will work with 21 different elements as
they explore the characteristics of six unique Pinot Noirs representing
different appellations and styles. We promise you a "sense-ual" and
unforgettable experience.
Discover the Velvet - A Vertical Tasting: a tutored tasting -
three winemakers will share vertical vintages of Pinot Noir showing the
development of the seductiveness of this wonderful grape. Confirmed
Panelist:Ross Halleck, Halleck Vineyard, James Hall, Patz & Hall.

Pinot Noir Reception and Awards Ceremony
The final results will be announced at The Pinot Noir Summit at 5 PM on
April 16, 2005 and the winners will be unveiled during a reception featuring
top Pinot winemakers and winery owners showcasing their wines with specially
paired hors d'oeuvres. The winners will be announced with reference to the
wines rated highest by the panel and by the trade.
Complete results will be posted on this page, no later than April 20,
2005.
The California Culinary Academy and Affairs of the Vine will
host a Pinot Noir Winemakers' Dinner following The Pinot Noir
Summit.
Five outstanding winemakers will share their wines at the dinner. Each
winemaker will be seated at a table with nine other guests at one of five
tables. As each course is served, the winemakers will move to another table so
each guest will have the opportunity to wine and dine with each of the
winemakers.
